About Us


 

The Vine Street Ensemble is a Limited Liability Partnership between Amanda Ramey and Sam Araya. Amanda and Sam perform at the events whenever possible and work with Champaign-Urbana professional musicians to fill out the groups.

Our ensemble types are:

Amanda Ramey, violin

Amanda is a violinist who has worked professionally as an orchestral musician and chamber musician. She has performed with many orchestras in the Central Illinois area, including Sinfonia da Camera, the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, Heartland Festival Orchestra, and the Peoria Symphony Orchestra. She teaches private violin lessons at the Community Center for the Arts. Amanda has an Artist Diploma in Violin Performance from the University of Illinois, a Master of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Colorado Boulder, and a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Baldwin-Wallace College. She currently lives in Urbana, IL.

Samuel Araya, cello

Sam is a cellist who has performed throughout the United States as a soloist, orchestral musician, and chamber musician. Locally, he has played with the Danville Symphony Orchestra, the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, and the Prairie Ensemble. He teaches private cello lessons out of his home and leads the Big Grove Cello Ensemble, a community music group of amateur and professional cellists. Sam has an Artist Diploma in cello performance from the University of Illinois, a Master of Music in Cello Performance from the University of Colorado Boulder, and a Bachelor of Music in Music from the University of California Santa Cruz. He currently lives in Urbana, IL with his husband, Andrew, and his cat, Toby.
